CHRISTMAS & NEW YEARS
There is nothing like Christmas, Boxing Day or New Years on the farm. Special menus with farm spit-roast sucking pigs, cured hams, pies and more. Everything is home made, even the music: Christmas Carols, and traditional ngoma drum entertainment by the farm music clubs.

NANE NANE HARVEST
In time for the harvest celebration Gibb’s Farm prepares with the annual drum competition. Iraqw people of Tloma have a special relationship with ngoma or drums. Called ngoma in Swahili and Oyyi in Iraqw, they have traditionally been used for communication and celebration as well as being a symbol of authority.

EARTH WEEK
Globally celebrated April 22, at Gibb’s Farm we have two events, one Mid-April when the farm is seasonally slow and everyone has time to participate and learn. The second is later in the year, May. In recognition of the world earth day’s start 40 years ago in 1970, Gibb’s Farm launches its first festivities.

INDEPENDENCE: Ujamaa Festival
The nation was founded in 1961. Nyerere, the ‘Father of the country,’ promoted community dependence with Ujamaa collectivisation and self sufficiency. As a result Tanzania remains one the most stable regions on the continent. We celebrate this achievement with inter-cultural activities all week long.
